IO Interactive Opens New Studio for Unannounced New IP

IO Interactive, the team behind critical darling Hitman 3 and the upcoming Project 007, has opened a new location to work on a third project. The team's latest location has popped up in Barcelona, Spain, and is currently working on an unannounced new IP, revealed the team in an official release. This new location, IOI Barcelona, joins IOI Copenhagen and IOI Malmö as the indie team apparently continues its hot streak.

All three IO Interactive studios are treated as "elite" studios, said the team and "will each make a significant impact to ongoing development and publishing efforts across all projects."

“There are exciting times ahead at IO Interactive and I am proud to announce the next step in our plans for the most desirable game company in Europe. IOI Barcelona will become the third studio to join our efforts to create phenomenal experiences for our players and communities,” said Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive. “All three of our studios have extremely talented developers who are passionate and driven towards making an impact in our industry. A core part of our philosophy is that everyone at IOI has a significant and impactful role to play in realizing our dreams, regardless of where they’re located. Think of it as we are one studio, in multiple locations.”

The core team is already in place and hopes to recruit top talent from across the game dev world to join in on working on properties such as Hitman, James Bond 007, and whatever this new property may be. It's surely years away as even the James Bond game is in fairly early stages of development and it seems that one is due next now that Hitman 3 is enjoying its post-launch campaign of content.

Hitman 3 launched in January and received "Mighty" reviews, garnering an 86 average from over 160 critics.
