Rockstar Claims It Fired Workers For Leaking "Confidential Information", Not Unionising

Last week, Rockstar fired between 30 and 40 employees in what the Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain labelled a "ruthless" act of union busting. However, the Scottish developer has since refuted these claims, alleging that staff were let go for leaking "confidential information".

"We took action against a small number of individuals who were found to be distributing and discussing confidential information in a public forum, a violation of our company policies," a spokesperson told Bloomberg. "This was in no way related to people's right to join a union or engage in union activities."

The "public forum" in question was reportedly a private trade union Discord server, and the union claims that the only outsiders present were labour organisers. However, it's worth noting that Discord communication is unencrypted, and the service has faced major breaches as recently as October, so while it might be a private server, sharing sensitive information on game development would still be risky.
