Kingdom Come: Deliverance Lead Says It's "Sad" That Even With Microsoft's Money, The Outer Worlds 2 Is So Static

"Finished. 7/10", Daniel Vávra's review of The Outer Worlds 2 isn't exactly scathing, but his disappointment captures a sentiment that a lot of players share. It's okay - a decent sequel that doesn't quite match the heights of Obsidian's yesteryears because it's built on the same decades-old foundation that grew stale years ago.

"What I find sad is that the comapny and the people who gave us one of my favourite games ever (Fallout & New Vegas) have been unable, even after 15 years and with all of Microsoft's money and latest technological advances, to come up with a single new game mechanic that could take this ancient but proven formula somewhere new," Warhorse co-founder and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 lead writer Vávra explained.

He had one question for his audience: "Can any of you think of a single new game mechanic in The Outer Worlds that wasn't already in Deus Ex or the original Fallout games more than 25 years ago?"

Some suggested the Flaws system, a personal highlight, in which repetitive actions, like crouching, offer permanent buffs with a wry trade-off; in this case, 50 percent faster crouching speed, with the unfortunate side-effect of your joints cracking...
