Sonic Rumble launched yesterday, and it's already facing backlash over its monetisation. Now, the multiplayer game is struggling to bring in players, opening to a concurrent player count of just 5,465.
At the time of writing, there are 2,624 users playing through Steam. We cannot see how many more are added to the playerbase through its mobile release, as this could possibly be the most popular platform for the game. However, when compared to other Sonic releases on Steam - games which released on far more platforms than Sonic Rumble - it becomes clear that this isn't resonating with players as much as other titles.
Comparing Rumble to the other games in the Sonic series that have launched on Steam, we can see that this is the least successful in recent history. Many comfortably beat Rumble, like Sonic Frontiers, peaking at 19,181 concurrent players, and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, with 13,630 concurrent players.
