You've probably seen those clips of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 campaign flying around. It almost feels like a parody, with the rag-tag crew of semi-futuristic quipping soldiers gunning down a giant Michael Rooker in what feels like a splice between Skibidi Toilet and the Lego Marvel Superheroes showdown with Galactus. The game also recreates some seminal moments from the series' history throughout the campaign... but with glitchy zombies thrown in, and giant machetes summoned from the air. It's bizarre.
Creating mil-sim shooters for 20 years is bound to get stale, so fair play to Treyarch for going all out. It just didn't stick the landing. In fact, it was so bad that the campaign alone cratered user and critic reviews, irreparably tarnishing Black Ops 7's reputation. But ol' Activision still wants everyone to play the sparkly new co-op campaign and its extraction shooter mode, Endgame, so it's taken to bribing Zombies players.
