Even PUBG Is Getting In On The Extraction Shooter Trend

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Marathon, Escape from Duckov, Arc Raiders, and even PUBG, the pioneer of the battle royale genre; everyone is getting in on the extraction shooter trend.

Krafton has just unveiled PUBG: Black Budget, inviting players to "join a classified operation and uncover the secrets of a mysterious island trapped in a time loop", AKA the Anomaly.

It doesn't have a release date yet, but PUBG Corporation is holding a closed alpha next month, and you can sign up today on Steam by clicking the 'Request Access' button.

Black Budget is a solely FPP experience in which you play as a Contractor, a "hardened veteran" hired to "recover top-secret technology from an abandoned research facility".

Set on a 2.5 x 2.5km map, matches will last approximately 30 minutes and can be played in squads of up to three players, with 45 players per session (15 squads). As with other games in the genre, you keep whatever you extract, and the longer you stay on the island - and in the time loop - the harder it will be to escape.

That's in part because the Anomaly functions like a battle royale circle, gradually shrinking...
