The Witcher 3 Director Says Games Won't "Have Soul" If Made Only With AI

Even though almost everyone who enjoys video games hates AI, we've seen its use in video game development rise rather sharply over the past year. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is absolutely riddled with the stuff, while Arc Raiders has also seen some backlash because of it, and you have former Square Enix bigwigs claiming that Gen Z absolutely loves the stuff and can't get enough of it. You'll rarely get the same opinion when it comes to the practice, as there are pretty high-profile critics of AI as well.

Dispatch developer AdHoc Studios made headlines earlier this month by claiming that maybe you "aren't a creative person" if you have to use generative AI in development, while Clair Obscur and Baldur's Gate 3 actress Jennifer English recently made a rather touching speech during the Golden Joysticks in which she said that "mistakes are beautiful" and to keep development "human."

Now, we can add The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz to the list of AI detractors, as he recently said in an interview with Eurogamer that he believes games created solely with AI don't "have soul" or the human touch that makes games special.
