Forget Elden Ring, It Sounds Like The Duskbloods Is FromSoftware's Most Innovative Game Yet

Earlier this year, at a Nintendo showcase, FromSoftware unveiled a surprise new game: The Duskbloods, a Switch 2 exclusive drenched in the same Lovecraftian vibes that coursed through Bloodborne a decade ago, featuring steampunk jetpacks, winged stone orbs with cheshire grins, and pale gothic vampires with symbols etched into their flesh.

It launches next year, but we still know very little about it. According to the Japanese website, it's a more competitive spin on Nightreign, dropping eight players into a battle against each other and various enemies to claim the "First Blood" in what sounds like Bloodborne meets Hunt: Showdown. According to a reputable Chinese journalist who accurately reported on Elden Ring leaks ahead of its 2022 launch (via Vice), it might just be FromSoftware's most innovative work yet.

"From what I know, The Duskbloods was greenlit even earlier than the marketing period for Sekiro's release," they claimed. "It is the FromSoftware title that has spent the longest time purely on gameplay prototyping and validation among all of their games so far. Although it's PvE and PvP, it reportedly contains many innovative elements the team themselves are very proud of."
