It has been rumoured for years that Ubisoft is developing an Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake, with reports alleging everything from RPG-ified combat to the modern day being completely stripped back in favour of new Edward Kenway scenes. But after much speculation, we might finally have definitive proof of its existence - and it's all thanks to Shadows.
According to dataminer u/thequaliti, whose post was reviewed by the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours mods ahead of its approval, a localisation table found in the files references "Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced", not only confirming its existence, but also its title.
A localisation table is a giant spreadsheet containing each line of text translated into various languages.
"Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a work of historical fiction created by a diverse team," the localisation table reads. "While inspired by historical events, people, and locations, it remains a work of fiction in which creative liberties have been taken to adapt it to the interactive format of a video game."
This description might have been included in the backend of Shadows because of the new Animus Hub, a launcher that lists every game from the RPG era on an interactive timeline. Either this disqualifier...
