The best opportunity for the unrealized potential of P.T. to manifest is in Kojima Productions' upcoming horror game OD, but the project may be too ambitious, even for its visionary director.
In an interview with ananweb (translation via Automaton), OD director, producer, designer, and co-writer Hideo Kojima makes some pretty bold claims about the still-mysterious game. "I can't say exactly what it is yet, nor do I know if it will work out," he says. "We’ve created stealth games and delivery games which were unlike anything before, but system-wise, they were similar to other games. This time, we’re trying to change the service model from the ground up, so it should be quite challenging."
Kojima remarks upon his own history of innovation. The "stealth games" refer to the Metal Gear franchise, while the "delivery games" are Death Stranding and its masterful sequel. He was slated to reinvigorate Silent Hill before his split with Konami roughly a decade ago, and now OD is, in some respects, a spiritual successor to P.T., the legendary playable teaser of the long-canceled Silent Hills.
