Divinity was undoubtedly the most memorable reveal of The Game Awards 2025. Not only because it's the next game by Baldur's Gate 3 developer, Larian, but also because the trailer was pretty gruesome. Watching someone's skin melting off while they scream isn't something that leaves the mind easily, nor is a demonic statue made out of flesh and bone.
While Baldur's Gate 3 definitely had some really dark segments, the Divinity series is much darker, as the trailer suggests. In fact, fans think that those who've only played Larian's most recent RPG aren't prepared for how dark things will get when Divinity finally launches.
Over on Reddit, veteran Larian fans who've played the Divinity: Original Sin 2 and the studio's older games have been discussing how fledgling fans who've only played BG3 are not prepared for how dark it could get.
