The news came as part of Nintendo's weekly download press release, but we've known that this port was coming for a while now. The question is whether or not it'll improve upon the strong, but less than stellar review scores the game received on other platforms in 2017. While it's holding at an 82 here on OpenCritic, there are plenty of reviewers who thought The Fractured But Whole just didn't have the magic of the first game.
GameSpace's Blake More wrote:
"...maybe you play it and you laugh and I’m totally cool with that. But for me, this feels like an unfinished symphony that could’ve used a few more punch ups before performance."
The Switch effect may be in full play here, though. With added time, perhaps some of those loose ends have been tightened, and perhaps more content has been added as well. We'll know for sure next week when the reviews pile in.
