There's no denying that Arc Raiders was one of the most successful multiplayer shooters of last year, and it has held that momentum into 2026. Developer, Embark, is aware that it will need to keep adding new content if it wants to keep going at this rate. A lot of things have probably been discussed behind the scenes, but we're yet to see the first major update of 2026.
It's always a gamble picking your gear and loadout before a game. Going in with your best gear will make your life topside easier, but you risk losing it all, while a free loadout means you're an easier target for Arcs and other players. However, what would the game look like if everyone went topside sporting their best gear?
Speaking to GamesRadar+, design lead Virgil Watkins revealed that the developers have thought about introducing a special mode or raid where you'd need to use your best gear to enter. While the idea sounds great, Watkins admitted that there would be some drawbacks to this gear-based matchmaking mode.
