If Cyberpunk 2077 had a spiritual successor or younger sibling, it would surely be Orbit Studio and Twin Sails Interactive’s Sky Dust, a newly announced “cyberpunk action-adventure Metroidvania.” Likewise, as a Metroidvania, it’s impossible not to draw a connection to Hollow Knight: Silksong, the biggest Metroidvania of 2025 and possibly the most highly anticipated Metroidvania of all time.
Per Sky Dust’s Steam store page, players will “master fast, skill-driven combat, and explore a fractured megacity across neon streets and a corrupted Cyberverse!” Sky Dust has all the trappings of an engaging, stylish cyberpunk game, and it already looks like a phenomenal entry in the genre.
Cyberpunk has always been a fascinating and beautiful genre, taking a dystopian landscape, soaking it in neon, and representing neat technological advancements, such as cybernetic enhancements or unique weaponry. It is an aesthetic that is difficult to oversaturate due to how adored it is, and games like Cyberpunk 2077, including Sky Dust, continue to prove that the sky is the limit for the genre.
