Critic Reviews for Arknights: Endfield
Arknights: Endfield is a fresh take on a gacha game that tries to divert expectations with factory-building, but never quite breaks the wheel.
I can’t help but be a little disappointed with Arknights: Endfield. On paper, it has the makings of an excellent gacha game, and with some updates in the future, it potentially might become one. But for now, it’s a slow and often tedious experience. I can’t see myself jumping in on launch day like I had originally intended, because I’ve burned out on the experience much quicker than I thought I would.
Arknights: Endfield is easily one of the best examples of gacha gaming, thanks to feeling like the gaming comes before the gacha.
Familiar yet different, Arknights: Endfield's introduction of automation takes this open world gacha in an unusually compelling direction. While its eye-rolling reliance on proper nouns and lore make its sci-fi plot less compelling than it could be, a strong battle system and outstanding PS5 optimisation give this live service the best possible start.
Arknights: Endfield is unlike anything else in the market, even if the sweeping premise feels admittedly low-key due to the writing, and combat desperately needs more depth.
Arknights: Endfield combines fluid combat, elaborate factory simulation, and Death Stranding-esque building to create a gacha RPG like no other.
Arknights: Endfield is a fantastic free-to-play game. It is still beholden to some of the hangups of a gacha game, with progress gates and luck of the draw dictating your main team.
