on | OpenCritic

In just a bit over 3.5 hours, we'll be treated to the "FINAL" E3 press conference as Nintendo unveils its forthcoming games. Tune in and catch our liveblog coverage. We've already been made aware that HiRez' Paladins will be officially launching today on the Switch shop, but we also expect Fortnite for Switch will officially be unveiled. Smash Bros. will be heavily featured. But what else will we get? More Pokemon info? New Zelda details? Dare we dream for more Metroid Prime 4? Star Fox? F-Zero? What about other third-party content? It's all possible, and we'll be here to catalog it all for you in one handy post.

LIVEBLOG UPDATES:

Waiting... t-minus 25 minutes, folks.

Just TWO MORE MINUTES.

Here we GO!

Starting with a massive Gundam-like action game? Cell-shaded, epic looking bosses. Platinum Games, maybe? Co-op fighting, lots of Daemon X Machina from Mavelous!

Story-board war story. Oh, a new Xenoblade? No, the story DLC? Bit of a prequel? This looks great. Yep, DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 2! Looks like it's a whole game of its own, almost. Torna - The Golden Country. Out September!

Reggie's here! Love this guy.

Pokemon! Here WE GO (Pikachu and Eevee). Two-player Co-Op, etc. All we've heard before. More on the Pokeball Plus, used for both of the new games. You can take it to a friend's house. Holds a "Pokemon" inside. All available on 11/16.

Four players, Super Mario Party! Not gonna lie... kind of stoked for this. Can use multiple Switches on a table to make battle maps for a tanks game. This is pretty neat stuff. Great for family/friends play. I want a whole Super Mario Baseball game, please. Good to see the series get a full treatment on Switch. Not going to please all gamers, but it's a classic.

Oh! Fire Emblem on Switch! NICE. This one will please the nerds among us (all of us). Open exploration in cities, classic turn-based content. Lead your party to train their skills on what you need them for. Looks quite nice for sure. Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Spring 2019.

Here's the Fortnite announcement! As if we all didn't expect that.Co-op on one screen? Local parties, too. Free to play, and it's out TODAY! 10am PT.

It's called Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and for good reason. The roster, which I missed a few, is just NUTS. Every single character from every game is here. That's awesome. But you've got to unlock them as the progression of the game. 8-player battles are back too. A look closer at some of the Fighters, how they've changed. Ice Climbers being back is awesome. Lots of new outfits too for a lot of characters. Female Pikachu! King Dedede has a seriously cool Final Smash. Even smash is getting inclusive. Female Pokemon Trainers too. Inklings look like a lot of fun to use. Inking people makes them more vulnerable.

And yep, the Gamecube controller can be used in Smash Ultimate. Amiibo support as well (of course).

But ONE more surprise. Looks like Ridley is actually a playable fighter! Well, that's going to be a most-played character.

Launching December 7th, 2018!

That's all she wrote for the Nintendo Direct, folks. No Metroid Prime, but I'll live! This one was all about Smash, and that's OK!
