Apex Legends Battle Passes Can No Longer Be Earned In-Game

It's no secret that in the years since its initial release, Apex Legends has quickly climbed the live-service shooter battle royale space to be among the most popular titles of its genre. Its fans have been loyal in their support for Respawn's title, and, in turn, have been treated to a fast-paced shooter that respects their time and wallet.

In a widely criticized move announced on Monday, EA is doing away with earnable battle passes in Apex Legends. Beginning with Season 22, battle passes will now cost real-life money. The seasonal offerings will start at $9.99 each, with a $19.99 bundle also being available for purchase.

Prior to Monday's announcement, every battle pass was able to be unlocked via Apex Coins, a currency that is grindable in-game. Of course, players always had the option to purchase their way out of the grind, but the option still remained to work towards the rewards by simply offering up your time and not your wallet. Now, that has changed.
