Hogwarts Legacy proved to be a monumental success for Avalanche Studios and Warner Bros. with the game serving as one of the most popular single player releases of the current generation.
That game took the Wizarding World's story back in time significantly, to over a hundred years before the events of Harry Potter, delighting fans with an alternate look at a universe they had grown up with.
The sequel has also excitingly been confirmed as being in active development and a major priority for the studio, but new rumors about what it might actually be like have quickly curtailed some of the excitement that the game's community were feeling.
Over on Reddit, one fan shared a report from Variety which seemingly confirms that, as well as Hogwarts Legacy 2 being a huge priority for Warner Bros., the story it will follow will co-ordinate with the upcoming adaptation of the original books on HBO.
Whilst that doesn't necessarily mean that the story will jump forward significantly, there will be a lot of direct connections and possible origin stories.
