Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's lead writer says she can't comment on the possibility of a sequel. The turn-based RPG was one of the biggest success stories of 2025, with Sandfall Interactive's debut title receiving widespread praise from both players and critics and dominating awards season. Now, as eyes turn to the future, some are clamoring for a Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sequel, but Sandfall is remaining coy about when or if fans can expect one.
Demand is certainly not an issue for a potential sequel. In addition to becoming a smash hit among players, Expedition 33 secured 436 Game of the Year awards, breaking Elden Ring's record for the most GOTY wins by a single game. As can be expected of anything that popular, the game was not free of controversy, with its use of AI and status as an "indie" title drawing some skepticism, but overall, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 saw a historic run in 2025. Whether Sandfall will follow up on that success with another game in the same universe, however, is less clear.
