Xbox Officially Rolls Out Game-Changing Steam Integration

From Screen Rant on | OpenCritic

We're in uncertain times when it comes to publisher relationships with PC platforms. Sony seems to be pulling out of the arena entirely, while Microsoft is leaning in with the Xbox brand.

This new bit of news is a game-changer, though. Spotted by Pure Xbox, a new feature could be a sign of things to come for Xbox going forward.

As of this week, Microsoft has rolled out Steam integration for the Xbox app on PC. Windows 11 and ROG Xbox Ally support for third-party apps is already available, but now you can add games to your Xbox app library even if they're from another platform like Steam.

Fans are already discovering that many apps load without issues in the Xbox PC app, including those with modding capabilities. One report notes that it takes around 10 seconds to load up a game that uses Steam functionality, even if you haven't previously loaded the platform.

As someone who uses the ROG Xbox Ally X, I find it a nice feature to have. Consolidation without the need to load extra apps is great, and being able to sort my collection regardless of platform is something I never knew I wanted....
