Sony could be planning a new PaRappa the Rapper game for the PlayStation 5, according to a new rumor. PaRappa the Rapper is a classic PlayStation game that became popular in the 90s, but it has been largely forgotten by Sony in recent years.
PaRappa the Rapper was originally released in 1996 for the PS1. The game stood out due to being an excellent rhythm game for the PS1 at a time when the genre was not very common, and partly because of its charismatic main character, the rapper dog PaRappa. The series received a spin-off called Um Jammer Lammy in 1999, and a sequel for the PS2 in 2001. However, more games were never released after that, and PaRappa only appeared in ports or had special participation in titles such as PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and Astro’s Playroom.
