Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump on July 13, left a message on Steam that said "July 13 will be my premiere, watch as it unfolds." July 13 was the date that Crooks attempted to assassinate former President Trump during his speech at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Crooks shot Trump in the ear, killed a rally attendee, and injured two other people.

Crooks was quickly killed, and in the aftermath of the shooting, investigators have been trying to figure out a motive. Crooks was a registered Republican, but previously made a donation to the Progressive Turnout Project, making Crooks' exact political affiliations unknown.
