Assassin's Creed Gamers Share Live-Action Ezio Casting Hopes

Of all the assassins in the Assassin’s Creed series, the most popular by far has to be Ezio Auditore da Firenza. First making his appearance in Assassin's Creed 2, players watched Ezio's journey from a reckless young man to one of the few assassins to make it to old age and die on his own terms.

Well, I suppose dying from a heart attack at 65 isn't exactly the ideal way to go out, but there that's fairly good going for Italy in 1524.

Ezio is such a popular character, that finding someone to play him in a live-action series leads to pretty heated debates. Over the years, gamers have suggested everyone from Bradley Cooper to Luke Pasqualino, while others insist the best way to go is to just do an animated movie and simply bring back Roger Craig Smith.

"Roger Craig Smith should definitely not play an Italian 17 year old," wrote one fan on Reddit back when the live-action Assassin's Creed series was in limbo.

"Ben Barnes, not a bad choice at all although he’s a little too old now to play young Ezio, perfect for Brotherhood Ezio though," another added.
