Valve Developer Comments on Potential Steam Deck 2 Upgrade

Valve's Steam Deck 2 will likely include magnetic TMR thumbsticks, per a company developer's recent comments. Of course, the focus for Valve hardware right now is on the Steam Controller, which sold out within 30 minutes of its official release date. That's not good news for fans still hoping to get one, especially since a portion of those sales were to scalpers.

The second-gen Steam Controller is leading the pack with its various improvements, and it comes ahead of the Steam Machine and Steam Frame. The former is marketed toward console players, while the latter is looking at the VR Market, but all the new and upcoming Steam hardware upgrades and releases follow the Steam Deck, which has been incredibly popular since its release. The Steam Deck 2 is the next logical step after the Steam Controller, Machine, and Frame, and Valve is dedicated to major improvements—not minor, purely iterative ones.

Listings on eBay for the new Steam Controller already seem out of hand, with some sellers asking high prices before even receiving the units.
