Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic developer Arcanaut Studios has brought together some top-tier talent for its upcoming RPG, including several veterans that worked at BioWare, specifically on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Little is known about Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic at this time, but the game is clearly being positioned as a spiritual successor to BioWare's past games. However, players shouldn't go in expecting a third Knights of the Old Republic, for various reasons.
While BioWare's KOTOR games were once considered part of the Star Wars canon, that changed with the franchise's acquisition by Disney in 2012. Since then, Knights of the Old Republic elements have come back in Star Wars, but the events of the games themselves are considered part of the Legends branding, alongside books such as Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire. It's possible Fate of the Old Republic could add in more characters and elements popularized by the KOTOR games, especially given the veteran developers returning for this spiritual successor.
A recent leak from the in-development remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic reveals an early piece of concept art from the game.
