Valve is now shipping the first orders for the Steam Controller, according to thousands of consumer testimonies all over social media. Based on the initial wave of reports, some of the orders in at least 22 of the 32 countries where Valve officially sells the device have already cleared the packaging stage.
The second-generation Steam Controller was announced in November 2025, two days after the tenth anniversary of Valve's first dedicated PC gamepad reaching the market. It went on sale through Valve's storefront on May 4, officially at 10 a.m. PT, though many fans reported completing their orders as early as 9:58 a.m. PT. The Steam Controller sold out within a couple of hours, even with Valve releasing inventory in waves, which caused it to alternate between being listed as "in stock" and "out of stock" throughout that hectic launch period.
