Developers have been getting even more aggressive about keeping their communities updated on Steam. Often, it's common to learn about a new game, get a clear release date with a wishlist option, and see regular updates in blog posts. If you're into something, you can dive into blog posts and potentially alter the course of the game through Early Access.

It makes it extremely easy to learn about games before they're released, but that sort of marketing is needed to stand out in an era when hundreds of games grace Steam every month. If we're talking RPGs, it can get even harder to discern what the game's systems are or what its monetization style is. The bigger the scope of the game, the harder it can be to pin down.
