It has been expected for a while, but now it’s official! Nintendo has announced that the prices of its Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch Online service are going up in several regions. When these changes take effect depends on where you are in the world, so check your local region for more information.
If you’re in Japan, you’ll be hit with these price changes first, with the Switch 2 increase beginning May 25th, 2026. But that’s not all, in Japan specifically, the original Nintendo Switch and its various models will also see a price hike on May 25th, 2026.

So what about the rest of the world? Well if you want a Nintendo Switch 2 you still have time to grab one before the price goes up. In the US, Canada, and Europe, the increase won’t take effect until September 1st, 2026. So, I highly suggest that if you don’t have one yet and want to get one, now is the time to make that purchase.
If you’re ok waiting, the image below shows the price you will need to pay.
