Steam users have until May 13 to claim a casual space sim about colonizing the Moon, titled Roving Rovers: Australian Rover Challenge 2025, without paying a single dime. It's no secret that Steam's library is already packed with free-to-play games, especially among indie releases, but it always feels a bit more appealing when a paid game turns free to claim for a limited time.
In the case of Roving Rovers, things work a bit differently from a typical Steam promotion. Normally, a paid game on Valve's storefront is made free for a limited time, letting players claim it and keep it forever afterward. With Roving Rovers, it's the opposite. The game is currently free on Steam but will soon switch to a paid model. That gives space sim fans a short window to add it to their library before it starts costing money.
