Following The Super Mario Galaxy Movie's big wins at the international box office, Nintendo is on a hot streak with their movies. The Legend of Zelda movie was announced in November 2023, when it was revealed that Nintendo would be working alongside Sony Pictures to bring the film to live. Unlike the Super Mario animated movies, The Legend of Zelda film is slated to be a live-action production, starring Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda.
In typical Zelda fashion, the live-action Legend of Zelda movie was originally scheduled to release on March 26, 2027, before being delayed until May 7, 2027. As of May 13, 2026, The Legend of Zelda movie has gotten yet another release date update. In a rare twist of fate, however, the Legend of Zelda movie will now be releasing earlier than its projected May, 2027 release date.
