Tomb Raider Officially Confirms The Start Of A New Era

2026 has been a big year for Tomb Raider so far, and another major step in the franchise's evolution has now been confirmed. Last December, Tomb Raider announced the 2026 release of Legacy of Atlantis, and in January, Amazon dropped a first look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in an upcoming Prime series.

It's all timing out to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Tomb Raider series, making for a major franchise comeback after years of relative dormancy. The newest update is a little more bureaucratic than the rest, but it could still have a huge impact on Lara Croft's future.

Tomb Raider parent company Embracer Group announced this week that a number of game development studios will be spun off into a company called Fellowship Entertainment, including Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics. Embracer describes the restructuring as a way to offer "each business the structure and leadership to realize more of its full potential," setting up "a more disciplined group with two distinct businesses."
