This is one of those preservation wins that PC gaming needs more of. Following the reveal of Metro 2039, the original 2010 version of Metro 2033 and the 2013 version of Metro: Last Light Complete Edition are now available on GOG.

That matters because the original versions were delisted from Steam years ago after the Redux versions arrived. Players who already owned them can still access them, but new players were forced to skip out on the original experiences.

And while the Redux versions modernized both games with updated visuals, controls, performance, and gameplay changes, but they are not the exact same experience. Some fans still prefer the originals because of their atmosphere, lighting, difficulty balance, and the overall feel of both titles.

GOG has also updated both games for modern PCs, including Windows 10 and 11 support, expanded resolutions, vertical synchronization, a high-resolution framerate limiter, optimized default settings, and modern controller support.

Supported controllers include the DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch 2 Pro, Nintendo Switch Pro, Logitech F series, and Amazon Luna controllers.
