The Sims 5 Step Aside, We’re Getting The Next Best Thing On May 25

Ever since the upcoming release of The Sims 5 was officially canceled by EA, the life simulation genre just hasn't felt the same, despite a few niche alternatives popping up here and there. Even if a few titles have managed to scratch the same itch left behind by The Sims and its countless DLC packs, there's still one competitor that has an excellent chance to offer the spiritual successor we've been waiting for.

Although releases like last year's InZOI did offer a promising glimpse of what a next-generation life sim could look like, one charming new game that we've been waiting nearly 7 years to experience for ourselves could be even better than the series that went on to inspire it.

Releasing exclusively for PC on May 25, the long-awaited indie game Paralives will finally be playable in the form of an early access build through Steam, letting you see a glimpse at what the community-driven game will have to offer when it fully releases. Even if it doesn't have access to all the same features you might expect from a full Sims release, the early-access build is already boasting some promising features.
