The Pokemon TCG is celebrating 30 years of the beloved franchise in 2026, and a brand-new set will be released to commemorate the occasion. The Pokemon TCG launched in 1996, arriving shortly after Pokemon Red and Green were released in Japan. Over the last three decades, Pokemon cards have become a vital part of the brand, attracting new fans and bolstering the overall popularity of the franchise. Decades have passed since the original Base Set was released, but the game continues to appeal to both old and new fans.
The Pokemon Company has officially pulled back the curtain on Pokemon TCG: 30th Celebration, a new set that will be released on September 16. Typically, Pokemon TCG sets are released in North America a while after debuting in Japan. However, that won't be the case this time. The new set will receive a simultaneous worldwide release. Each pack will have a foil Pikachu card, and the franchise mascot will have 30 unique designs in the set. Packs will include reprints of classic cards, including the popular Base Set Charizard card. A new card rarity will also debut.
