Two Classic Call Of Duty Games Are Making A Comeback

Two of the most beloved Call of Duty titles appear to be mounting a comeback. The franchise is on the precipice of what could be a major shake-up: the release of Modern Warfare 4 in October. But while the next brand-new installment is hoping to flip the script on the much-derided Black Ops 7, the franchise may be simultaneously flexing its back catalog.

Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 received new age ratings from South Korea's Game Rating and Administration Committee (BO1 here and BO2 here; via GameObserver). They have, unsurprisingly, been restricted from teenagers and children, essentially earning the GRAC's equivalent of the ESRB's M rating for excessive violence and strong language. New ratings indicate that some form of re-release is on the way for Black Ops and Black Ops 2.

The most transformative for both would be a remaster. There is precedent in Modern Warfare Remastered and Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, but a similar project has not yet been attempted with a Treyarch-led CoD.
