Overwatch Change Gives Players a Better Shot at Anniversary Legendary Title

Overwatch director Aaron Keller confirmed that Blizzard is making changes to some of the requirements associated with the Anniversary Event, meaning some legendary titles are now more achievable. Since its evolution at the beginning of 2026 and its Reign of Talon narrative, Overwatch continues its forward momentum through updated content and newly added heroes like Season 2's Sierra.

2026 has already been a big year for Overwatch in general as it underwent a massive overhaul and rework. While the change has been a biog success for Blizzard, the franchise as a whole is also celebrating its 10-year anniversary, having originally launched all the way back on May 24, 2016. To celebrate the huge milestone, Blizzard kicked off a special Anniversary Event in Overwatch, with the game bringing back 21 exclusive launch hero skins, unique weapon charms, titles, community-made cosmetics, and 15 earnable Anniversary loot boxes as well. As good-intentioned as the event was, it seems to have missed the mark in a few areas for many fans.

Blizzard names the newest Creative Director for the Overwatch franchise, and his history is giving fans hope for an animated series.
