Classic PS2 Franchise is Making a Comeback After 19 Years

In a completely unexpected reveal at the Sony State of Play for June 2026, the classic PlayStation 2 franchise Stuntman is getting a brand-new release with Stuntman: Hollywood. Nineteen years after the series' last release on PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360, Saber Interactive has resurrected the Stuntman franchise for new audiences, and it's looking pretty great.

For those who may not remember, or may be too young to remember, the Stuntman franchise was a niche arcade racer in which players took on the role of a stuntman and performed various insane stunts for fictional movies. The whole series was less about actually racing and more about getting the coolest possible series of events to happen, from death-defying jumps to explosions and everything in between. Stuntman saw its last entry in 2007 with Stuntman: Ignition, but failed to perform in sales, remaining a rather niche title in a time when Rockstar Games' Midnight Club and Gran Turismo dominated sales. This eventually led to THQ shelving the series and the original development team shuttering its doors. But now Stuntman is back in a big way.
