The Nintendo Switch 2 has already been an enormously successful console for the video game giant, selling 20 million copies (as of Q1 2026) in a short space of time to dominate the handheld market. Though that pales in comparison to the staggering 155 million copies the original managed to ship, it's still well on its way to being one of the most successful consoles of all time.

That said, there are still plenty of areas for improvement that we will likely see at some point further down the line. We're still yet to get an OLED model of the console, which is something they will almost certainly produce, and there are plenty of ways performance can be fine tuned moving forward, if they so desire.

Now, news is emerging that there will be a different batch of hardware releasing in short order, but the changes aren't quite as stark as many would want at this point.
