Original Assassin's Creed designer Patrice Désilets revealed a brand new game at Summer Game Fest, titled 1666 Amsterdam, and players can check out a prologue right now. What's most surprising is how similar it seems compared to the rumored Assassin's Creed Hexe, with it no doubt leading some fans to believe 1666 Amsterdam was actually Assassin's Creed Hexe.

For context, there's only been one trailer about Assassin's Creed Hexe that confirms a Witch Trial in the Holy Roman Empire setting. Since then, plenty of Assassin's Creed Hexe rumors have painted a picture of the game, from the presence of Magic (Isu), which might be downplayed now, to the female protagonist named Anika. While Ubisoft has kept official details limited, the game is widely expected to deliver a more horror-leaning take on the Assassin's Creed formula than previous installments. But 1666 Amsterdam is available, to a degree, well before AC Hexe.

A known Assassin's Creed leaker claims to reveal new details regarding the in-development Codename Hexe, all of which are incredibly enticing if true.
