Ed Boon announced that a new batch of content will be revealed for Mortal Kombat 1 at San Diego Comic-Con, including a “kontinuing story” and additional fighters. This tease comes as Mortal Kombat 1 fans are expecting an update on the future of NetherRealm’s game, which didn’t feature any reveal or panel at EVO 2024 on July 21.

Almost a year after its initial release, Mortal Kombat 1 regularly adds new content for players to keep on enjoying this popular fighting game. The latest update for Mortal Kombat 1 brought Takeda Takahashi as a new DLC fighter and Ferra as a new Kameo fighter, alongside a batch of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements. While the addition of new fighters is appreciated by the community, fans are waiting for NetherRealm Studios to announce their plans for the second year of the game, which will celebrate its first anniversary on September 14.
