Fallout 5 is likely in development already, but fans are worried about how long they'll have to wait before they get to play it. There's no official release window for Fallout 5 yet, but previous speculation placed it at 2028-2029. The development studio is currently busy working on The Elder Scrolls 6. Reports indicate that the studio tends to focus on developing one game at a time, to avoid rushing through any of their titles.
Speaking to Game Informer, Bethesda's Director and Executive Producer Todd Howard stated that the studio has "never stopped developing Fallout." Although he admits that "the majority of our internal team is on Elder Scrolls VI," the Fallout franchise hasn't been left behind.
