The Lord of the Rings fans are absolutely hyped about the official new open-world RPG set in Middle-earth from developers at Warhorse Studios, the team behind the beloved Kingdom Come: Deliverance games. Unfortunately, it's likely going to be a bit of a wait before we actually get our hands on the game itself, though rumors suggest a 2028 release window is entirely possible given the studio's development cycle on past projects.

That said, though fans have mixed views on the series, The Rings of Power Season 3 is set to debut later this year, with Andy Serkis' The Hunt for Gollum coming in 2027, and the official new LOTR project from Stephen Colbert currently in the works. Further, there's reportedly a second Lord of the Rings game in the works behind the scenes at Crystal Dynamics, though no official details have been released.

Still, if none of that is coming soon enough for you as a die-hard LOTR enthusiast, The Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation is an official new release slated to drop this year, available to pre-order right now (via Clownfish).
