Few video game remakes have generated as much excitement or frustration as the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. First announced during Sony's PlayStation Showcase on September 9, 2021, the project promised to rebuild BioWare's beloved 2003 RPG from the ground up for modern audiences.

Since then, however, updates have been few and far between, with reports of development setbacks, a shift in project oversight from Aspyr Media to Saber Interactive, and years without gameplay footage leaving many fans wondering whether the remake will ever see the light of day. Although Saber Interactive has repeatedly insisted that the game remains in development, the lack of substantial news nearly five years after its reveal has tested the patience of the Star Wars community.
