Season 3 of Overwatch is now right around the corner and Blizzard has begun showcasing the latest character joining the roster, the dual pistol, motorcycle riding damage hero, Shion. After reinventing itself earlier this year, Overwatch continues its strong momentum through 2026, with plenty more content on the way for the back half of the year.
Following Overwatch's big revival and overhaul earlier this year, Season 2 was a little bit more uneven as it introduced a number of controversies with its players. The big 10th Anniversary celebration for Overwatch kicked off in Season 2, though it wasn't quite what some fans were expecting. While it did add new content, including 21 exclusive launch hero skins and other cosmetics, players noted the lack of content overall, with some rewards being near unobtainable. The outcry became so loud that Overwatch director Aaron Keller took to social media to address concerns, resulting in an increase of loot boxes as well as a reduction of completed challenges needed to unlock the special Table Flip title.
Blizzard names the newest Creative Director for the Overwatch franchise, and his history is giving fans hope for an animated series.
