Virtua Fighter Crossroads Brings Open-World to Franchise in 2027

Virtua Fighter Crossroads has been one of the worst-kept secrets in gaming that actually crossed over into the pro wrestling world with moves like Ricochet's Spirit Gun and Will Ospreay's Hidden Blade being shown in leaked footage, but the 2026 Summer Game Fest gave us our first official glimpse at the next entry in the 33 year-old Virtua Fighter franchise.

RGG Studio is once again at the helm of this franchise revival. They have become Sega's A-team when it comes to maximizing the history of the company, and this new entry blends at least some of the cast we know with new characters in a game that blends VF-style combat and open-world traversal that evokes Sleeping Dogs dead-on -- mainly because you're racing through a market in the scene shown and few games have that as a setting.
