While Dragon Ball Z has had no shortage of game adaptations over the years, the definitive RPG still feels strangely out of reach. For a series with built-in elements that are absolutely ideal for a proper role-playing experience, it seems like low-hanging fruit. There have, of course, been a few respectable attempts over the years, with Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans delivering a surprisingly solid turn-based adventure, Dragon Ball Fusions with its unique party-building mechanics, and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

However, fans are still waiting for an official Dragon Ball Z RPG that truly does justice to the IP and its world, characters, battles, transformations, etc. While the upcoming Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is bringing us a new Dragon Ball game set in the World of AGE 1000, its online 3D arena fighting and action-RPG/MMO-lite structure isn't exactly a universally loved style.

That said, there's a brand-new Dragon Ball Z RPG that's finally set to release in December this year after nearly a decade of development, and it's one that is certain to blow fans away (via GamingTrend).
