Adding to its already impressive-looking scale, it appears that Playground Games' upcoming Fable has over 1,000 "handcrafted" NPCs, and apparently, all of them are romanceable according to a new interview. Fable has been on a spree of new reveals and first-looks following a massive Summer Game Fest season.
The Fable franchise has always been widely celebrated for its extensive player freedom and second-life-style mechanics, often considered a pioneer of modern Western RPGs alongside titles like The Elder Scrolls. While Peter Molyneux made a lot of promises about the original Fable trilogy that didn't materialize, one big thing that the franchise did popularize was real estate mechanics and sweeping freedom to talk to and romance just about every NPC in the game, which is a feat not many RPGs can say they accomplish even today. As the new Fable reboot approaches, it appears that Playground Games is continuing in the spirit of the original games.
