New Roguelite Game on Steam Sounds Like Dark Souls But Plays Like Ghosts 'n Goblins Gone Bullet Hell

The roguelite genre officially has another contender in the form of Dark Scrolls, an upcoming Steam game that may sound like Dark Souls, but is more reminiscent of retro title Ghosts 'n Goblins, with a healthy dose of bullet hell. This exciting Steam title has the backing of publisher Devolver Digital and is set to release on June 22 on PC and Nintendo Switch.

When it comes to smaller titles from relatively unknown developers - in this case, doinksoft - few have a track record like Devolver Digital. The publisher has an excellent record of publishing great titles from talented indie developers, where the main barrier to success is simply word of mouth. When looking at some of the best Devolver Digital games, titles like Hotline Miami and Cult of the Lamb instantly spring to mind, with games like Enter the Gungeon and Inscryption serving as reminders of the publisher's genre versatility.
