First released back in 2009 as remakes of 1999's Pokémon Gold and Silver, Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver took fans to the beloved Kanto and Johto regions as part of the fourth generation of the beloved Nintendo franchise.
Released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Gold and Silver, Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver were created as a way to respect the fans of the original, whilst aiming to introduce a whole new era of fans to the franchise. Luckily, they were met with success, going on to sell over 12 million copies for the Nintendo DS.
To help improve on the original, HeartGold and SoulSilver welcomed multiple new features, including the physical/special attack split, the inclusion of the Battle Frontier aimed at adding more post-game challenges, and even the ability for Pokémon to follow you in the overworld if they were in your party.
As such, Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver are remembered fondly, and with the Pokémon franchise as a whole celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, one upcoming release is guaranteed to hurt your wallets quite a bit.
