It's Official: Zelda Is Returning To The Wilds Era One Final Time

The Legend of Zelda has experienced some truly remarkable periods as a franchise over the years, from the heady days of Ocarina of Time, all the way through to the open-world creativity offered by Tears of the Kingdom. This latest stint has colloquially come to be known as the Wilds era, thanks to the first game, and overall, it has been a huge success.

Though many are now calling for a return to the slightly more restrictive formula of the Zelda games of old, there's no doubt that exploring Hyrule with such freedom was really a moment to remember for fans. Before we leave it in the rear-view mirror, though, it's only right that we mark its impact, as the franchise celebrates four decades since its inception, and one new release aims to do just that.

As first reported by IGN, Dark Horse Comics has confirmed the upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom—Secrets of the Zonai Art Book. The 9" x 12" hardcover book comes with 472 pages of art and material that offer fans a behind-the-scenes look at the lore and development process that went into the game.
